Antonio Lupetti has made this clarifying graphics on the environmental impact of spam.
Part of the basis of a study published in 2010 which concluded that every day 221,000,000,000 sent emails which were spam 183,000,000,000 (85% of total traffic)
Other studies also contributed to every email sent around the world generating 0.3 grams of CO2, so it's easy to get to the chilling end result of 54,900 tonnes of CO2 a day because of spam.
